About
Manufacturing
Amplifiers: Stratos, Khartago and Cyclops.
- All Odyssey equipment is made in the USA, parts & labor
- Unit is constructed of solid metal that is precision-machined using in-house computerized CNC mills.
- Faceplate and backplate are 0.4″ (10 mm)-thick brushed aluminum.
- Standard finish is matte black. The following optional colors are available either for the faceplate only for the complete unit for an additional $ 75: “Wet-Black”, Silver, Gold, Dark-Blue, Burgundy, “Copper” , “Hunter Green”, and Purple. Please look up our “Options” page to see the products in different colors.
- Laser engraving is used for all lettering. No silk screening.
- Instead of an ordinary LED indicator on the faceplate, we offer a more unique indicator that features the Odyssey logo sand-blasted into glass. The glass assembly incorporates a special lighting effect that produces a lit 3-D holographic Odyssey image.
- We only use the highest quality parts, including low-tolerance Wima caps, Vishay/Dale metal film resistors, and ALPS potentiometers, and Groneberg cable.
- Units undergo a three-level QC process that includes: (1) Careful testing of all components and assembled boards; (2) Testing of units immediately following assembly, (3) A strict 48 – 72 hour burn-in process.
- Final steps include a double-check of bias and offset, oscilloscope and spectral analyzer testing, and individual listening tests on our reference system.
- All transformers are specifically designed for the amplifier in partnership with Plitron engineers.
- All output transistors are measured and matched to within 1%.
- Anti vibration “feet” dampers. These “feet” provide resonance control and surface de-coupling. Audio Selection is available on special request.
- Heavy-duty gold-plated connectors are standard, as are Neutrik XLR connectors. WBT connectors on special request.
Preamplifiers: Tempest, Candela and Kismet.
- All Odyssey equipment is manufactured in the USA.
- Tempest preamplifier’s circuit board is manufactured by Symphonic Line from Germany with a true Reference Phono Stage for MM and MC.
- Unit is constructed of solid metal that is precision-machined using in-house computerized CNC mills. Kismet is built with 6063 aircraft aluminum.
- Faceplate and backplate are 0.4″ (10 mm)-thick brushed aluminum.

- We only use the highest quality parts, including low-tolerance Wima capacitors, Vishay/Dale metal film resistors, ALPS potentiometers, and Groneberg cable. Candela uses Sonicaps.
- Units undergo a three-level QC process that includes: (1) Robotic testing of components before soldering and assembly; (2) Testing of units immediately following assembly, including a special tuning and optimization of the power supply system for noise reduction; (3) A 48-hour burn-in process. Final steps include a double-check of bias and offset oscilloscope and spectral analyzer testing, and individual listening tests on our reference system.
